What is "FAFSA"?

You and your parents have probably heard the acronym FAFSA before. FAFSA stands for Free Application for Federal Student Aid. This application is free as the name implies. Filling out the application does not mean you are taking out student loans. It is just an information collection tool that is sent to your schools financial aid department to determine what types of aid you qualify for.
