Finding time to exercise in college can be a challenge. Students are so busy that exercising is oftentimes the least of their worries. However, the endorphins that exercise releases can actually help you stay mentally fit for college as well. The challenge is how to squeeze exercise into a busy college students schedule. Below you will find some suggestions on how to fit exercise into your schedule:
Take a PE Class
Many schools require a PE or Health and Wellness credit. One easy way to ensure you are getting your exercise in is to make it mandatory. A downside to this is mandated exercise does not always feel as fun.
Walk to Class
Walking (or even biking) through campus to get to your class instead of driving will help you get some extra steps in. This is a simple way to build some exercise in.
Get Your Friend Group Involved
Ask your friends if they would want to work out or walk with you. Having a workout buddy can increase accountability, and make exercise far more enjoyable.
Do Things that Excite You
Not all exercise is going to be fun, but you can prioritize doing the exercises that you enjoy best. Some people love to swim, bike, play intramural sports, or even rock climb for enjoyment. These are great ways to have fun working out.
Workout While You Watch TV
Binge watching your favorite show? Hop on the treadmill while you watch. You will probably not even realize how far you can go in just an episode or two.
